Building Partnership Programme Support to Civil Society and Local Initiatives "PROMOTION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THE ZHYTOMYR REGION (UKRAINE)"

The project The project aims to formulate a strategy for the effective support of entrepreneurship in the region of Zhytomyr, including business training, networking with similar Ukrainian and European organisations, and creating the necessary prerequisites for the establishment of a physical business incubator in the target region.
The project's overall objective is the improvement of employment and the reinforcement of SMEs through the expansion and promotion of business activities, the strengthening of SMEs competitive characteristics and the fostering of entrepreneurship in the region of Zhytomyr. Specific objectives of the action include:
- Provision of support to the Zhytomyr Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZCIC) to create an up-to-date strategy for the effective support of the SMEs sector in the area of Zhytomyr, focusing on new or potential entepreneurs;
- Promotion of the transfer of know-how and strengthening of the managerial skills of the new or potential entrepreneurs in the Zhytomyr region through a series of capacity building actions initiated by ZCIC;
- Enabling new start-up SMEs to participate in Business Incubators as a means of promoting their activities and creating the appropriate conditions for their future development.
The main activities of the project are the following:
- Provision of effective support to local SMEs via Business training (training of trainers, training of enterprises' staff, study visit)
- Networking with other SMEs and SME promotion \organisations in Europe
- Public awareness activities
- Examination of the possibility to integrate the existing Business Incubation Services of ZCIC to a Physical Business Incubator in order to better promote SMEs activities and to create the appropriate conditions for their future development.

The actions aim at fostering entrepreneurship in the region of Zhytomyr. The main target group of the project is new or potential entrepreneurs in the SMEs sector who are in the process of establishing their own enterprise or have already establish one and are in need of Business Incubation Services. More specifically, the direct beneficiaries of the project are:
- 15-20 new local SMEs, selected to participate in the project and benefiting from Business Training and networking activities;
- The Zhytomyr Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which will benefit from the transfer of know-how from the EU partners of the project and from the elaboration of a pre-feasibility study for the development of its current Business Incubation Services into a Physical Business Incubator.

All SMEs in Zhytomyr region will also benefit from Business Training provided by the staff of ZCIC who will have taken part in the training activities of the project and the creation of a Physical Business Incubator. Finally, the project will benefit unemployed people in the region of Zhytomyr, since it will foster entrepreneurship, thus providing opportunities for the creation of new jobs in the region.
